KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
Tawei (David) Wang
Professor Tawei (David) Wang is currently a KPMG/Neil F. Casson Endowed Professor, and associate dean for faculty and research at the Driehaus College of Business. Wang’s research interests include information security management and IT management. His papers have appeared in several leading journals, including Information Systems Research, Accounting Horizons, Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory, Decision Support Systems, European Journal of Information Systems, Information and Management, Information Systems Journal, International Journal of Accounting Information Systems, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Information Systems, among others.
At DePaul, Wang mainly teaches audit data analytics and has been invited by universities and conferences around the world to discuss curriculum design and analytics teaching strategies. He is a Fulbright Specialist for developing analytics curriculum for accounting/auditing programs. He was a speaker for IIA, IMA, ISACA and a panelist for the Federal Reserve Bank Charlotte.
He actively serves in the professional community as a workshop/conference coordinator, reviewer, and editorial board member. He was the president of the American Accounting Association (AAA) Midwest Region and Accounting Information Systems Section. Wang is currently a co-senior editor of the Journal of Information Systems and an associate editor of Information and Management.
Stu Black with Pat McLay
Dr Stuart (Stu) Black is a Melbourne Enterprise Fellow in the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Melbourne. Immediately prior to returning to academia, Stu was a senior partner of Deloitte Australia, where he had responsibility for revitalising traditional service offerings through the introduction of analytics. In addition to delivering analytics services embedded in client service teams, Stu and his team developed many of Deloitte Australia’s innovative offerings.
Stu’s research focuses on the secondary use of data, disruption, and business model innovation. Stu also is interested in understanding how data and analytics impacts the accounting profession. Stu has been published in leading academic journals such as Information & Organization and the International Journal of Information Management, is a co-author on a book exploring business model transformation and the links with AI & cloud technology, a Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Australasian Journal of Information Systems and a co-guest editor for the upcoming special issue on “Advanced Technologies and Decision Support for Audit” for the International Journal of Accounting Information Systems (IJAIS) as well as an associate editor of IJAIS.
Mr Pat McLay was the 2023 Executive-in-Residence with the Department of Accounting at the University of Melbourne. Now returned to leading client relationships and engagements, Pat has senior accounting and advisory (consulting, transaction and internal audit services) roles with EY (as Lead Partner for Financial Accounting Advisory Services in EY Oceania), Deloitte Australia and Grant Thornton UK.
A lead audit partner for many years, Pat now focuses on helping EY clients improve their reporting processes, build effective finance teams and solve complex accounting problems. He has also held a number of leadership roles that included hands-on experience in innovation, knowledge management, design and operational improvement. Pat is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand, a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and is a registered company auditor. He holds a BSc in Accounting from the University of Glasgow.
